Job Description:

A national law firm has an opening in its Chicago office for a Higher Education Associate with two to four years of experience working in a university or college general counsel’s office or equivalent experience as outside general counsel to higher education institutions.  The ideal candidate will have a general background in higher education law, with experience in accreditation, Title IV (federal financial aid), Title IX, the Clery Act, and the ADA/Section 504.  This position will work with other attorneys in their Healthcare, Life Sciences & Education business unit serving a range of public and private colleges and universities throughout the United States.  This is not a litigation position, although it will involve pre-litigation advising on routine student affairs and labor and employment matters.

Job Requirements:

The candidate must have a strong academic record, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team, effectively handle multiple projects at the same time, respond effectively and promptly to emergent client needs, be comfortable with public speaking, and be an excellent writer.  Candidates must have a Illinois bar license (or a license in the state for which they are applying to work) or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible.
